This is a chronic problem throughout New Haven. None of the lights work and no one seems to care yet there is shock and surprise when motorists run red lights. How can other towns have light systems, many from the late 1980s, yet New Haven cannot? Who benefits from malfunctioning lights? Do we not care about our merchants? Or taxpayers who are wasting time and gas because the lights don't work? What about the vendor from whom the system was purchased? Are the lights working as they are supposed to? Why is this such an ongoing challenge. Maybe New Jersey's governor is controlling them from afar.
